Though Paul the Octopus will no longer make psychic predictions (handlers announced his "retirement" last week), a new iPhone app called "Ask the Octopus" has captured his prognosticating spirit.
For those not in the know, Paul is a psychic German octopus who correctly predicted the results of all of Germany's games in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He also correctly called Spain as the winner. Paul makes his predictions based on food trays lowered into his tank with flags or names written on them. Some unhappy soccer fans wished death upon poor Paul, but Spain and Russia have offered him a new home in hopes of utilizing his unusual talent. Paul's handlers say he'll stay put in Germany.
In "Ask the Octopus," users think of a question they wish to ask, for example, will Lindsay Lohan serve her full jail sentence, and then enter possible answers. Paul will then summon all of his psychic powers and float down to make a selection.
The app is not officially affiliated with Paul, but it's all in good fun and we're sure the octopus would approve. Get it today for only 0.99!

If you have even a slight interest in Apple or the company's wildly successful iPhones, you've already heard about the "grip of death" problem plaguing iPhone 4. Grip the phone a certain way and the antenna strength plummets.

Grip of Death
While Apple CEO Steve Jobs initially told users to simply hold the phone another way, the company held a last-minute press conference on Friday (July 16th) where Jobs announced that Apple will offer a free bumper to users experiencing antenna issues. Apple has not currently released details on how to claim a bumper, but is expected to soon. In the meantime, jokesters have come up with their own solution: Antenn-aid, or colorful band-aids to designed to "make Apple's boo-boo all better." Get yours today!

Need a tool to help you find sexual partners who are ready and willing? Than PinPointsX (PPX) is the app for you.
Per the PinPointsX website, PPX is an adult social network that uses the GPS on users' phones to help them find local people who are up for "a good time." Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge. Once users have joined the network and downloaded PPX (which is free by the way), they can simply view a Fling Map and select their next "erotic partner." There are even listings for hotels, massage parlors, stip clubs, and other forms of adult entertainment. Hooking up with a random stranger, or strangers, has never been so easy.

Today everyone is really interested in Lindsay Lohan's new ankle bracelet, but we find this Sony concept bracelet computer much more exciting.
Designed by Hiromi Kiriki, the device is made from flexible OLED plastic which will allow owners to wear the computer around their wrists! The bracelet unfolds to reveal a QWERTY keyboard and a holographic projector will serve as the screen. Designers estimate the computer will be available sometime around the year 2020. Pretty cool, huh?

Novelty betting, or the act of betting on the outcome or likelihood of a future, non-sports-related event, is becoming increasingly popular in the world of online gambling. Not everyone is interested in sports or has the knowledge to make educated bets. For people who are more interested in the outcome of politics, award shows, or reality TV there are sites like InTrade.com.
Intrade is an online trading exchange website that allows users to bet on just about anything. Think you know where the first hurricane of the 2010 season will make landfall? How much money a particular movie will gross? When Osama Bin Land will be caught or whether or not California will legalize marijuana? Put some money on it! With 14 categories ranging from Current Events to Business to Climate and Weather, everyone can find something to gamble on. If you don’t want to risk money, sister site InTrade.net allows users to play just for fun as well as create their own betting markets.
If InTrade doesn't do it for you, head over the other novelty betting sites we've profiled: Stiffs.com or Longbets.org. It's just money, right?

Some may call them smart, others may call them crazy, but some ladies out there won't date a guy unless they've conducted a thorough background check on him. This was virtually impossible before the invention of the Internet, but thanks to the wonders of modern technology viligant women can "investigate" dates from the comfort and convenience of their iPhone.
The Date Check iPhone app is targeted towards women, but either sex can technically use it. A user simply needs a potential date's name, email address, and phone number and Date Check will confirm the person's address, report on his criminal history, pull up a map of his neighborhood, determine who he lives with, share his educational history, and find any active social networking accounts. That's a bit creepy. Oh, and girls can rate their experience with you and Date Check will "log it for future use." Whatever that means.
The app is free so who knows how accurate or extensive the information it finds really is, but Date Check is bound to be a great tool for any competent stalker.

If you have $15,000 to spare and your boss doesn't mind cutesy (creepy?) robots, you might to consider investing in the Anybots QB. The QB is a telepresence robot that can go into the office for you, sparing you the hassle of stressful commutes or annoying coworkers.
“The QB is an extension of you,” Bob Christopher, chief operating officer of Anybots told Wired.com. “It removes the barriers between people and work so people can teleport themselves to the office space.”
You only need a web broswer and a keyboard to control QB, and the robot can transmit your voice or video image to those stuck in cubicle land. Unfortunately, the robot doesn't have arms, so you can't type, fetch coffee, or sexually harass the interns.
Anybots QB will be available this Fall. Check out the video below.
