Video: iPad Falls 100,000 Feet, Survives

In a recent video, G-Form, a company dedicated to building “innovative protective and shock-absorbing products,” places an iPad in one of their newest products, the Extreme Sleeve for iPad, and drops it from a weather balloon 100,000 feet in the air. G-Form hoped to prove the Extreme Sleeve would protect the iPad from major damage and, if the video below is to be believed, it seems they made their point. After plummeting from the edge of space, the iPad emerged from its sleeve with nary a dent or scratch. Check it out.

Steve Jobs Resigns as CEO from Apple

Apple’s board of directors announced last night that Steve Jobs has resigned as the company’s CEO, and Tim Cook has been named CEO. Jobs has taken a position as chairman of the board.

Although the news is shocking, it’s not entirely out of left field, as health problems had interfered with Jobs’ day-to-day duties with the company in recent years. In 2004, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and had surgery to remove the tumor, which was successful. However, due to his increasingly frail appearance and absences from Apple events, the state of his health was often under speculation.

Study: Internet Explorer Users Not as Smart as Users of Other Browsers

Are users of Internet Explorer less intelligent than users of other browsers? According to a new study, the answer is yes.  

The study, conducted by the web consulting company AptiQuant, found that the more obscure the browser, the more intelligent the user. Users of Internet Explorer, the world’s most popular browser, ranked the lowest in intelligence, while Chrome, Firefox, and Safari users scored slightly higher. Men and women who use obscure browsers like Camino and Opera ranked “exceptionally higher.”
