Apple Announces New Line of iPods, Changes to Apple TV and iTunes

Apple held a press conference today to announce exciting new changes and features to Apple TV and its wildly popular line of iPods. Here's a brief overview of the news:

The new Apple TV, which will be available in 4 weeks, will now cost $99 rather than $229. It now offers rental movies and TV shows rather than movies for purchase and owners will also be able to view videos on YouTube, movies from Netflix, and photos from Flickr.

The new iPod Touch has sharper screen resolution and front and back cameras to handle Apple's FaceTime video chats. The iPod Nano now has a touchscreen and the iPod shuffle has a sleek new look. The new iPods will be available next week, though pre-orders begin today.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs also unveiled a new version of iTunes with a new look and a new social networking feature called Ping. With Ping, iTunes users can follow the music selections of their friends and artists they are interested in. The new version is available now.
