Björk's "Biophilia" Boxset Costs Only... $858?!

Björk is breaking boundaries with her new Biophilia album. Besides creating a custom hybrid instrument for several songs, she's also becoming the first artist to release an entire album as an iPad app.

Now, her creativity continues as details of her Ultimate Edition Boxset have been revealed. With a price tag of $775, plus shipping costs since it's only available through her online store, this collector's item will only set you back $858.

While it may be the most beautiful and bizarre boxset ever, it is quite comprehensive. The lacquered and silkscreened oak-hinged lid case comes with the full Biophilia Manual, which is a 48-page, hardbound, clothed-covered and thread-sewn book.

Also included are 10 pretty chrome-plated tuning forks, silkscreened on one face in 10 different colors, stamped at the back, and presented in a flocked tray. Each fork is adjusted to the tone of each of the tracks from the album and covers a complete octave in a non-conventional scale.

You do get some music with this masterpiece in the form of 2 CDs which contain additional exclusive recordings in addition to the album itself.

Head on over to Björk's online store to place your limited edition order before August 12. Her description of the album alone should make you want to buy this boxset: "Biophilia is an interdisciplinary exploration of the universe and its physical forces - particularly those where music, nature, and technology meet - inspired by these relationships between musical structures and natural phenomena, from the atomic to the cosmic." Far out!
