Facebook To Roll Out Email Feature Next Week

Facebook is set to unleash its “Gmail killer” next Monday. The social network giant will launch a full-fledged webmail client, and will offer users their own “@facebook.com” email addresses.

It seems to only make sense that Facebook would introduce a mail client for users, as the website already sends a vast amount of emails to the users, regarding comment notifications, friend requests, photo comments, etc. One can imagine that it may de-clutter a personal email account if all of the Facebook-related messages went elsewhere…say, to an “@Facebook.com” email address.

Facebook currently boasts over 500 million users worldwide, so even if some people (inevitably) hate the feature, its likely that a lot of people will still use it.

Will you? I don’t think I’d add the feature, but I’m also the kind of person who likes to have everything in one place – when I was in college, I had my school’s email account forwarded to my personal account. I hate having to go to multiple web sites or use multiple clients just to get all of one task (checking my e-mail, in this case) done.
