Miramax Library Coming to Hulu

After inking a distribution deal with Netflix last month, Miramax Films has also announced plans to bring its 700-title movie library to Hulu.

Subscribers to Hulu’s premium plan, Hulu Plus ($7.99 per month), will be able to access hundreds of Miramax movies in the next few months, including such classics as Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting, Scream, and The English Patient. The films will be in HD, when available, and will not include advertising interruptions.

“Making our films available via premium digital distribution channels is extremely important to Miramax,” said Mike Lang, chief executive of Miramax. “We’re thrilled about the prospect of enhancing both our brands by making our films accessible to Hulu’s fast-growing audience.”

Hulu will also offer approximately 15 free movies per month on the advertising-supported section of its website, the first time a streaming service has (legally) offered Miramax titles free of charge. The new movies will be available across many platforms including TVs, tablets, computers and mobile phones. As with Netflix, financial details of the Miramax-Hulu deal have not been reported.
