New App Offers Exclusive Access to Academy Awards Footage

Can’t get enough of the glitz and glamor of the Academy Awards? ABC’s new Oscar Backstage Pass app offers users exclusive access to footage from the star-studded event, giving fans the opportunity to see more celebrities, more glamor, more of everything they love about Hollywood’s most prestigious awards ceremony.

With access to live video streams from cameras used to shoot the awards show, the Oscar Backstage Pass allows users to see the Academy Awards from the perspective of a producer or Hollywood insider. With footage from the Red Carpet, Kodak Theater, and the Governors Ball, an event following the awards ceremony, there’s no telling who, or what, will appear on camera. Footage from these cameras isn’t available to regular TV viewers so purchasers of the app will see video network viewers do not.

Meant as a viewing companion, the Backstage Pass app, available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, is available on iTunes for 0.99. Until the big event, Oscar Backstage Pass users can access videos about the upcoming ceremony as well as a timer counting down to the glamorous ceremony.

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards airs live on ABC this Sunday, February 27.
