Nintendo to Slash Wii Prices

One week after announcing a Wii successor, Nintendo today announced that it will slash the price of original Wii by $50. Beginning May 15, customers can scoop up a $150 Wii in black or white, complete with Mario Kart Wii and a Wii Wheel. The original Wii kit included Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resorts games.

However, the Wii price cut isnt’ the only exciting news for bargain hunters. Nintendo will also offer a collection of games for the low price of $19.99. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Mario Super Sluggers, and Wii Sports are among the games the Japan-based company will mark down.

"From the day it launched, Wii has let players of all ages and experience levels have fun with one another," Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said in a press release. "The new suggested retail pricing for both the hardware and select games will help create more of these magical moments for even greater numbers of people."

While this news won’t thrill current Wii owners or those who are holding out for Wii 2 (expected sometime in 2012), it’s great for people like me who have waffled about buying a Wii for years.
