Soap Dispenser Shaves Flakes of Bar Soap

Liquid soap is the most commonly used soap these days. It is perceived as the safer soap when it fact it tends to contain more bacteria then bar soap. Yet bar soap is a real pain in the butt to use. It’s slippery and messy and if you live with a spouse with long hair you are bound to be removing strands in the shower.

So how do you get the best features of both soaps?  Enter Nathalie Stämpfli. She is a design student who came up with brilliant idea. I am almost upset I didn’t think of it first.

Her creation is called Soap Flakes.  It works much like a liquid soap dispenser.  You stick a bar of soap in it and a small grate at the bottom will shave off just a few flakes for you to wash with. They come it two different styles. One is wall mounted and the other looks a lot like a pepper mill.

The benefits of this invention are immense. Liquid soap uses unnecessary water, is a pain to transport, and uses a petroleum based packaging.  Bar soap can easily be stacked, wrapped in paper and is better for the environment.

The Soap Flakes will also prevent that slippery gross feeling of a wet bar of soap. The bar never gets wet and won’t get gross or filled with bacteria like liquid soap will.
