Booz Allen Hamilton, an American consulting firm, does a lot of work for the Pentagon. Anonymous recently hacked their servers, which contained a lot of military business, and today, they leaked the information.

Calling today “Military Meltdown Monday,” the leak includes 90,000 logins of military personnel, including people from US CENTCOM, SOCOM, the Marine Corps, Air Force facilities, Homeland Security, State Department staff, and private sector contractors. The information leaked may include e-mail exchanges between any of those personnel and Booz Allen Hamilton’s current executives.

Anonymous included a note regarding the hack, saying that they “found some related datas on different servers we got access to after finding credentials in the Booz Allen system. We added anything which could be interesting.”

The note continues, “Last but not least we found maps and keys for various other treasure chests buried on the islands of government agencies, federal contractors, and shady whitehat companies. This material surely will keep our blackhat friends busy for a while.”

Whitehat, in this sense, refers to hackers whose goal is to improve security – an “ethical hacker.”  They specialize in testing to ensure the security of an organization’s data. Blackhat, on the other hand, is considered to be the “villain” or “bad guy” hacker.

Anonymous mentioned also that the company’s servers had “basically…no security measures in place.”
