Boxee Update to Add iPad Support to Box in May

Boxee Box users will have to wait until May, unlike late March as first expected, to get iPad support and a software update. The 1.05 update won’t be rolling out quite yet, but Boxee does promise that the next update will include a “huge browser update” that will not only speed up the browser considerably, but will also dd compatibility with more video-minded websites.

Boxee CEO Avner Ronen blogged about the many changes that will appear in the next update.

An iPad app will be released that will allow used to stream content from the iPad to the Boxee Box. Thankfully, the app will be compatible with both first and second generation iPads. The app will also add a few social features, like the ability to see what your friends are watching (hopefully, this feature only applies if your friends give the OK for you to find that information).

Also included in the May Boxee update will be options for sorting local files, additional language support, and onscreen displays for rewinding and fast-forwarding through content.

Naturally, the update will also include fixes for bugs. Unfortunately for PC and Mac Boxee client users, no update news has been announced.
