Gamers to Battle Futuristic Robots in "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2"

Last night, Treyarch debuted the first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and many fans were surprised by the premise of the new game. Rather than battle human soliders in past or present day settings, as has been the case in previous Call of Duty games, Black Ops 2 gamers will battle robots of the future - hijacked automated defense drones, to be exact.

"The existence of the title was the worst kept secret in the industry for months," writes Forbes' Paul Tassi. "But the premise? It caught more than a few people off guard."

Though the premise of Black Ops 2 is certainly different, that may be what saves the series from fading into oblivion. As Tassi reports, many Call of Duty gamers have grown bored with the series' repetitive nature and a little killer robot action might lure disgrunted players back to the fold.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is slated for release on November 13, 2012. Check out the trailer below.
